Life won't wait for change.

LIfe won't wait for change, life just keeps going whether you are paying attention to it or not. So maybe instead of the title reading Life won't wait for change it should read that Change won't wait for life. It's always going to happen whether you are on board or not.

I have some changes coming my way, all new and all exciting! I'm heading to a new job in a new town for a whole new, once and a life time experience. And I'm ready for it. I just haven't packed, but that's besides the point. The point is I'm making a change and making things happen.

I've got to promise myself to pay attention, embrace and enjoy every moment. Or it really wouldn't be worth it.

You see I know change
I see change I embody change
All we do is change Yeah, I know change

We are born to change
We sometimes regard it as a metaphor
That reflects the way things ought to be

In fact change takes time
It exceeds expectations
It requires both now and then
See although the players change
The song remains the same
And the truth is
You gotta have the balls to change

Soup.Love

Soup is one of those things that warms the soul more than anything else. Comfort food is what it is often referred to. It can warm you on the coldest, rainiest, snowiest, even most self loathing of days. And nothing beats it when it's homemade. I've started making soups on the regular, I'm talking 2 -3 times a week (with the help of a blender, it is easier than ever)

I love making soup that I know will nourish my hard working man during his hard working days. I also love a quite cup of soup with the daily newspaper, along with a fresh baked loaf of bread. Or of course eating it with a loved one while they praise your soupertise. Anyway around it, it can't be beat.

My personal favourite is my mom's Cream of Broccoli soup. She'll make it for me whenever I am back in town, or just whenever. Here is a healthy substitute for a timeless favourite.

Broccoli and Lentil Soup:
1 1/2 tsp. olive oil 7 mL
2 tsp. crushed garlic 10 mL
1 medium onion, chopped
1 celery stock, chopped
1 large carrot, chopped
4 cups chicken stock 1 L
2 1/2 cups chopped broccoli 625 mL
3/4 cups dried green lentils 175 mL
2 tbsp. grated parmesan cheese 25 mL

1. In large nonstick saucepan, heat oil: saute garlic, onion, celery and carrot until softened, approximately 5 minutes.

2. Add stock, broccoli and lentil; cover and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally or until lentils are tender.

3. Puree in food processor until creamy and smooth. Serve sprinkled with Parmesan.

Tip: A dollop of light sour cream on top each bowlful gives a great taste and sophisticated look.

If you don't have 4 - 6 people to serve, you can freeze it for up to two weeks.
Bon appetite!

Affection has two f's, especially when you're dealing with me

The year 2010 has just begun, I have resolved to show more affection to my loved ones. The reason is simple, they all deserve it. Pictured above is my main squeeze, isn't he cute! The past year I have been realizing all my dreams and it's all because I have someone to dream with.

This is my first time.

I have recently been made aware of how fabulous a blog can be. I've been enjoying reading a friend's blog for the past couple months and have been inspired to start my own. Part of reading her blog is the enjoyment of feeling like I am inside her head, even when she is on the other side of the country. But also to see the inspirational words of wisdom she provides herself and others who are reading.

The other side of her blog is viewing the links of her fellow bloggers that she is inspired by. Many of them are fabulous women who invite beauty and creativity into their lives every day. I thought to myself; "I want to be like one of those women... hmmm, maybe I am one of those women."

Expressing creativity is not something I find myself doing very often. So be gentle, it's my first time but I am looking forward to documenting favourite things, travel delights, cooking and baking adventures and much more, all the while trying to make it look pretty, and hoping my grammar is correct.
